About TCS HackQuest: More Information
HackQuest began in 2016 as a sincere effort to find special skills that excelled at their favorite game, Catch the Flag! The tournament includes a set of challenges to be performed in 6 hours, based on the popular "Catch the Flag" (CTF) structure. Each task tests their ethical hacking abilities as well as their unique ability to locate flaws. Qualifications Required in Education

- Only in the academic years 2020-2021 or 2021-2024 would they have completed their studies.
- There should be no open or current backlogs for students.
- Throughout their schooling, students should have at least 60%.
Discipline
Students having bachelor's or master's degrees in any IT or computer science-related area who match the TCS recruitment standards are eligible for the competition. Candidates with experience in the security fields specified below will be given priority.
- Network Security Application Security
- Python, PHP, and Java/ J2EE GO
- Risk management and information security
- Hacking with Integrity
- Any security-related certification, such as Security+, CEH, ISO 27001, and so on.
Age Restriction
Applicants for the TCS HackQuest must be at least 18 years old.
Selection Process for TCS HackQuest 2024
TCS Cyber Security Unit members will go through the following selection process.
There are two rounds in this competition. All registered students can participate in the first round, which is an online Catch the Flag tournament, and they will be shortlisted for further sub-rounds.
Participants who have been shortlisted after Round 1 will advance to Round 2, where they will be interviewed by a TCS Cyber Security interview panel through video call, MS Teams, or Webex.
This is a competition for one person only. It is not possible to participate in a team.
Round 1
- This will be an online test, where the candidates would be required to log on to an online application with a set of challenges/ questions to test their skills on ethical hacking and their specific competency in security challenges. The URL of the application will be shared before the contest.
- The contest is 6 hours long in which all the participants are required to use their skills to solve the challenges and submit the Flags captured in the online portal.
- Post to completion of solving a challenge, participants need to capture a screenshot of the Flag with a timestamp visible and prepare a detailed report in the template provided with a step-by-step approach for solving a particular challenge.
- This report should be uploaded on the hack quest portal before the deadline as mentioned.
- Uploading this report to the HackQuest portal is mandatory and any participant failing to upload the report will NOT be considered for further evaluation. This will result in automatic disqualification of the candidate for that edition of HackQuest as well. Please also make sure that the report is original and does not match with another contestant in which case, both contestants would be rendered ineligible for further editions of HackQuest.
- The maximum size of the report should not be more than 6MB.
- Participants are free to use tools of their choice. Using tools that send a huge amount of traffic or tamper with the App which hosts the challenges is strictly prohibited. If any participant is found violating this, he/ she will be disqualified immediately from the remainder of the contest.
Round 1 Evaluation will be based on:
- Flags captured
- Quality of the report submitted
- The approach followed for capturing the flags
Round 2
Candidates chosen in Round 1 based on the above-mentioned evaluation criteria will be invited to participate in a remote supplementary round, which will be informed to shortlisted candidates later.
Day 1
Activity 1 This would be an activity that you would do on your own. The candidates would be given various difficulties to complete, which they would be expected to solve utilizing their advanced talents. This round's challenges address the following topics:- The exploitation of the system
- Web application penetration testing
- Mobile safety
- Forensics of digital data
- The participants' flags captured in the above-mentioned themes will be used to score the incident response.
Activity 2: HR & MR Interviews (3-4 hours) – Remotely
Day 2
Grand Finale Ceremony (1-2 hours) – The event will be conducted virtually.
