Indo-Tibetian Border Police Force ITBP Group A Educational Qualification Details
Super Specialist Medical Officer (Second in Command)
- The M.B.B.S. or equivalent graduate degree in medicine from a recognised university/institution listed in the first schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
- Should be listed in any state medical registry established by the Act.
- A required rotational internship must have been fulfilled.
- Should also have a postgraduate degree or diploma in a comparable specialty listed in Sections ‘A' or ‘B' of Schedule I to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) or an equivalent qualification.
- After receiving the first post-graduate degree, candidates must have a Doctorate of Medicine (DM) or Magister Chirurgie (M.Ch.) or equivalent, as well as three years of experience in the relevant Super-Specialty. Experience, physical, and medical standards will all be factored in during the senior residency phase.
- Before the appointment, the applicant must be permanently registered with MCI, NMC, or the State Medical Council.
Specialist Medical Officer (Deputy Commandant)
- A recognised medical qualification in the allopathic system of medicine included in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (other than licentiate qualification) in the first or second schedule or part–II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification). Holders of educational qualifications listed in Part II of the third schedule must additionally meet the requirements set forth in Section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, Subsection (3). Before being appointed to any of the CAPFs, the applicant must be permanently registered with the MCI/NMC/State Medical Council.
- Completion of a rotational internship that is required by law.
- Should also have a Post Graduate (PG) Degree/ Diploma in the concerned specialty listed in Sections ‘A' or ‘B' in Schedule-I or equivalent, as well as one and a half years of experience in the concerned specialty after obtaining the PG Degree or two and a half years of experience after obtaining the PG Diploma.
Medical Officer (Assistant Commandant)
- A recognised medical qualification in the allopathic system of medicine included in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (other than licentiate qualification) in the first or second schedule or Part–II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualification). - Completion of a mandatory rotating internship: Candidates who are currently completing a rotating internship are eligible to apply and appear for the interview, provided that if chosen, they have satisfactorily completed the mandatory internship before being appointed.
Dental Surgeon (Assistant Commandant)
- A Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from a recognised university or institution listed in the Dentists Act of 1948's schedule (16 of 1948)
- The applicant must be a member of the Indian Dental Council.
- In the BDS exams, the candidate must get at least 60% overall.
- In the first attempt, the candidate should have passed all BDS topics. (v) Work experience gained after obtaining a bachelor's degree will be prioritized.

For Super Specialist Medical Officers(Second-in-Command), Specialist Medical Officers(Deputy Commandant), and Medical Officers (Assistant Commandant):
Eligible candidates will be contacted by a Board of Officers for an interview at one of many locations to determine their suitability for appointment in CAPFs.
For Dental Surgeon(Assistant Commandant):
Documentation will be required of all eligible candidates.
Candidates that score about ten times the number of available slots in order of merit will be summoned for an interview, which will be based on their documentation scores.
